Meet Paul Riley

Paul is running for Congress to bring principled leadership and practical solutions to Virginia’s 5th District. He is guided by a simple mission: put people before politics, protect the earned benefits of veterans and working families, and ensure the voices of everyday Virginians are heard over the noise of special interests.

Paul Riley is a retired U.S. Army veteran with over 20 years of service as a military intelligence officer, including a combat tour in Iraq for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.

After serving at duty stations around the world, Paul and his wife, Jani, settled in Crozet in 2010, where they raised their three children: McKenna, Nathaniel, and Keegan. From 2010 to 2023, Paul worked at the National Ground Intelligence Center. Today, he continues his national service as a defense contractor and intelligence professional, advising on critical security issues facing the United States.

Born in Norwich, New York, Paul graduated from Florida State University in 1989. He and Jani have been married for over 34 years. Paul enjoys the outdoors—hiking, fishing, hunting, and traveling—and remains deeply committed to his family and community.
